Enlarging the right side of the picture we can see some variation in its structure from the modern photograph above.
The entrance door is now enclosed by a porch and the window above it (if it ever existed?) has been removed. The valuation document reveals that Mrs Ashton owned not only this property but also the adjacent house now called “Rose Lea” both with Copyhold title. The valuer described Mrs Ashton’s home as “Old Stone Built Cottage 1 Living room & 1 Bedroom” and valued it at £37 gross. |
